Description

The attendee will be able to:

1. List the desired glycemic targets for patients with diabetes and newly recognized hyperglycemia in the critical care and non-critical care areas.

2. Prescribe therapy that achieves desired glycemic targets and minimizes risk for hypoglycemia in patients with and without diabetes.

3. Transition patients from IV to SQ insulin therapy.

4. Discuss the safety of the use of non-insulin therapies for management of inpatient hyperglycemia.

5. Explain peri-operative glycemic management of patients who use insulin pump therapy.

6. Describe how knowledge of the A1C guides discharge planning.
