Global Health Film Series

Half the Sky, Part 2

October 8, 2013
12:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Room 109 Parran Hall, Graduate School of Public Health

In the second part of this unforgettable documentary based on the
book by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, watch as actress/activists
Diane Lane, America Ferrera, and Olivia Wilde travel to Somaliland, India,
and Kenya to explore the global issues of maternal mortality, forced
prostitution, and access to education for women. Hear the stories of
women who are confronting oppression and creating durable solutions
through health care, education, and economic empowerment for women
and girls. These stories may shock, outrage, or move you to tears — but
they may also inspire you to find the way you can take on what Kristof
and WuDunn call “the central moral challenge of the 21st century.”
