Description

This session will focus on a geriatric patient presenting with hip fracture into the ED. The objectives of the presentation are to: understand more recent evidence about surgical vs. non-surgical treatment of hip fractures, and to review: KATZ-ADL scale to assess functional status and understand it’s importance, the Clinical Frailty Scale and its significance, guidelines about Deep Venous Thrombosis Prophylaxis, pain control guidelines, risk factors and treatment options for delirium, and the importance of nutrition on surgical outcomes and mortality.
