Description

Global access to affordable, lifesaving medications has been grossly hampered by pharmaceutical patents. Narrated by actor William Hurt and featuring contributions by former President Bill Clinton, retired Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and Nobel prizewinning economist Joseph Stiglitz, Fire in the Blood reveals the story behind millions of unnecessary deaths attributable to inequitable access to antiretroviral drugs to treat HIV/AIDS in Africa and the global south in the years after 1996. Filmed on four continents, the documentary highlights efforts to increase accessibility to low-cost medications through the stories of activists fighting for the most basic of human rights for all global citizens.
