Description

1. Identify endocrine diseases in which genomic imprinting plays a role (ie, in which etiological genes and mechanisms are affected by parent-of-origin inheritance).

2. Understand basic mechanisms by which imprinting normally affects genes with endocrine functions and the abnormal processes that lead to disease.

3. Understand that Prader-Willi syndrome is pleiotropic endocrine disease involving neuroendocrine and pancreatic endocrine systems, and the ongoing research that will tease apart the physiology and the molecular mechanisms.
