Description

Hypoglycemia, defined as any blood glucose <70 mg/dl, is the major limiting factor in the management of people with diabetes treated with insulin, preventing the attainment of glucose targets, adversely impacting quality of life, and contributing to morbidity and mortality. This lecture will review the epidemiology of hypoglycemia, risk factors, consequences, and methods of avoiding or preventing hypoglycemia.
