·Center for Assistive Technology A joint program of UPMC Health System and the University of Pittsburgh, CAT has emerged
as a leader and innovator in the assistive technology industry.
·Center for Research on Health Care The Center for Research on Health Care (CRHC) was established to develop a nationally recognized program in health services research Pittsburgh's University community.
Our objectives are to: Stimulate health services research by providing a center where ideas can be transformed into feasible projects; Assemble interdisciplinary research teams capable of conducting large-scale studies in health services research; Establish a broad-based research agenda; Train future leaders and investigators in health services research; Educate the University community about issues relevant to health services research; Promote communication and collaborative relationships among departments, schools, and universities; Identify resources and expertise that will contribute to the research programs; and Provide consulting services to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and other institutions.
·Communication Science and Disorders The Department of Communication Science and Disorders is a dynamic, nationally ranked program that offers undergraduate, masters and doctoral level study. We train audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and clinical scientists.
·Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation offers inpatient and outpatient services to those with musculoskeletal injuries, spinal cord or traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, or cerebral palsy; those who have had a stroke; and amputees. Services -- which are offered in several UPMC hospitals and outpatient facilities -- include up-to-date diagnostic options, surgical and nonsurgical treatment, and help with rehabilitative equipment.
·Department of Rehabilitation Science and Technology The Department of Rehabilitation Science and Technology (RST) of the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, is a unique program that has achieved national and international prominence. Our mission is to advance rehabilitation science and technology through advocacy, education, research, professional service, and by expanding the role of the rehabilitation technology professional.
·Department of Sports Medicine and Nutrition There is an ever-increasing demand for academic programs providing the unique opportunity for students to pursue combined educational interests in fitness, diet/nutrition, health, and athletic performance. To address this issue, the departments of Clinical Dietetics and Nutrition and Sports Medicine/Athletic Training are merging to form a future Department of Sports Medicine and Nutrition.
·Health Information Management Welcome to the Health Information Management (HIM) Department of the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Pittsburgh. Our Department maintains excellence in teaching, research, and service. Graduates of our program enjoy a high success rate on the national registration examination and excellent employment potential.
·Magee-Womens Research Institute The Magee-Womens Research Institute, a multidisciplinary research institute for women's and infants' research, conducts meaningful research directed at improvements in the health of women in all stages of their lives. Affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, the MWRI emphasizes translational - laboratory bench to hospital bedside - research.
