Fall courses are starting now for the Pitt Sustainability Professional Certificate, which enables participants to become Pitt Green Ambassadors.

Mike Boninger, associate dean for sustainability in the University of Pittsburgh’s schools of the health sciences and Distinguished Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, School of Medicine, encourages staff and faculty in the health sciences to earn the certificate.

There are four required courses and two electives, most of which are offered every semester. Employees gain the knowledge needed to apply core sustainability principles to create solutions throughout their careers that allow all to thrive.

October classes are Sustainability Foundations: Balancing the Three Es; Sustainability: Environment, Ecosystems, and You; and Sustainability: Circular, Regenerative, & Just Economies. The electives offered in November are Recycling: How to Reduce Waste at Pitt & Beyond and Sustainable Food Systems.

Those who complete this certificate can help Pitt advance sustainability and work toward the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030.
