Pitt and UPMC Launch Computational Pathology and AI Center

The Computational Pathology and AI Center of Excellence (CPACE), a Pitt/UPMC joint venture, unveiled its new facility in the UPMC Cancer Pavilion, Suite 201, on April 24. The center is designed to bring together experts in computational pathology, artificial intelligence and related fields to collaborate, innovate, educate and advance medical research.

It aims to help transform medicine by using AI to detect disease earlier and more accurately and to enhance personalized treatments plans to improve patient care standards and outcomes.

The grand opening event featured a short presentation by the executive director, Hooman Rashidi, and the Pathology department chair, Liron Pantanowitz. They offered their insights on the future of computational pathology and laboratory medicine and AI, and how CPACE will help lead the way in this arena. Speakers included Curtis Stratman, senior director of product management with the digital solutions team at UPMC Enterprises.

The event was an opportunity for invited guests to tour the facility, meet the team, and network with other leaders and professionals.
