The University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing is honored to have its highly competitive Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program ranked among the top nursing schools in the country for the third consecutive year.
On Sept. 23, 2025, U.S. News & World Report released its 2026 Best Colleges rankings, with Pitt’s BSN program tied for eighth in the nation. This ranking reflects a long history of nursing excellence that the Pitt School of Nursing has worked diligently to maintain.

“I am incredibly proud of the caliber of our undergraduate and graduate programs,” said Christine E. Kasper, dean, School of Nursing. “Maintaining a top 10 ranking for our BSN program is a validation that our faculty are expertly guiding our students throughout their academic journey, while challenging them to ask ‘why,’ and then working with them to discover the answer,” she said.
“The School of Nursing trains students in a rigorous, research-oriented program so they are prepared to shine in clinical settings, while also cultivating the commitment to patient care that is central to their field,” said Anantha Shekhar, senior vice chancellor for the health sciences and the John and Gertrude Petersen Dean, School of Medicine. “This ranking is a testament to the hard work of our faculty, staff and students.”
