The Allegheny County Medical Society (ACMS) recently announced that four University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine faculty members are recipients of 2024 ACMS Physician Awards. These awards honor excellence in clinical practice, leadership and humanity.

Jodie Bryk, assistant professor of medicine, School of Medicine and medical director, UPMC Enhanced Care Program, was awarded the Nathaniel Bedford Primary Care Award. This award is presented to a primary care physician who is dedicated to the well-being of their patients and demonstrates exemplary patient care, clinical excellence and service to their community.

 

Darrell Triulzi, professor of pathology and director of the Division of Transfusion Medicine, School of Medicine, and medical director, Vitalant Clinical Services, was awarded the Ralph C. Wilde Leadership Award. This award is given to physicians who have shown clinical excellence, professional leadership and ethical conduct through their work.

 

Two faculty members were honored with the Richard E. Deitrick Humanity in Medicine Award: Thuy Bui, professor of medicine and director, Social Medicine Fellows program, School of Medicine; and Julie Childers, professor of medicine, School of Medicine. The award is presented to physicians who illustrate compassion, integrity, respect and care for patients.

 

Recipients will be honored at the ACMS Annual Meeting and Distinguished Awards Program Ceremony on Nov. 13, 2024, in Pittsburgh.

 

ACMS is a membership-based organization dedicated to improving health care through education, advocacy, service and physician well-being, with a vision of a healthy region with compassionate medical care.
